During the academic quarter, Crops Club meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday night
of each month at the
Crops Unit labs. There is a tri-tip dinner with salad, beans and bread
which is served at 6:30 p.m. The dinner is free for club members. The
membership fee is $25 annually. T-shirts are $10. The dinner costs $5.00 for non-members. However, if the meeting is sponsored by our guest speaker, the dinner is free to all current members.
The club meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. At the meetings we discuss our general business, including making students aware of scholarship opportunities, conferences and club activities. We usually have a guest speaker from the agricultural industry. Speakers vary from chemical-company representatives to county farm advisors, seed-company representatives, Pest Control Advisors and growers of various crops, including vegetables, tree fruits and vines. In addition to the knowledge they gain, guest speakers give students the opportunity to mingle with industry representatives as well as to discuss possible internships and permanent positions.
